Bernard Gersten to Step Down as Executive Producer of Lincoln Center Theater

After 27 years, Lincoln Center Theater’s executive producer Bernard Gersten will step down from his post on June 30, 2013. Gerstein has served in the position since Lincoln Center Theater’s inception in 1985, overseeing the growth and development of the organization into one of the country’s leading institutional theaters. Under Gersten’s tenure, Lincoln Center Theater has produced over 147 productions at Lincoln Center Theater’s three theaters, as well as on Broadway, off-Broadway and both national and international tours. There will be no successor to Gersten. LCT will run under the continued direction of current artistic director Andre Bishop.

“Lincoln Center Theater is truly fortunate to have been the beneficiary of Bernard’s dedication, vision, grace, and his gift for working with Andre Bishop to create a leadership position for our theater,” J. Tomilson Hill, chairman of the board of directors of Lincoln Center Theater, said in a statement.

“We’ve had a terrific run at Lincoln Center Theater and with a devoted board and a crackerjack staff, the theater can look forward to the next 27,” Gersten commented.

In addition to his credits at Lincoln Center, Gersten served as executive vice president of Zoetrope Studios, executive producer of Francis Ford Coppola's One From the Heart, and the former Vice President of Radio City Music Hall. He has also served as an adjunct professor of theater administration at New York University, Yale School of Drama and Columbia University School of the Arts.
